A driver's impression of a cyclists is based on the last one they have had with one
Have you ever heard of, "a company is only as good as its last job" ? I believe this can apply to a cyclist.
A guy as work was telling me how he almost ran over a bicyclist the other day. He was very shook up about it. It sounded like the bicyclist ran a red light and then yelled at my co-worker for driving too fast. My co-worker then told me other bad experiences he has had with cyclists running red lights or blasting through intersection from sidewalks.
The fact is cyclists and drivers only remember the bad interaction between them.
If we all followed the law and were a little more courteous I believe there would be better relations between cyclists and drivers.
You could say a driver's impression of a cyclist is the last interaction they had with one. For me, I am going to try to make that a good impression.

Great post -- agreed on the thoughts.
So was he?
...driving too fast?
You're right of course. I completely agree.

BTW - did you disappear quickly after the meeting or did I just make the colossal mistake of failing to say hey?
If so, hey!
Minus,
No, the senior citizen was not speeding on Marion road. I should clarify, him being shook up was that he does not want to run anyone over and he believes in sharing the roads with cyclists.
Yes, I did disappear quickly Hey.
Similar could be said for the bike trail. Recently I have announced "on your left" before passing someone and told "thanks" as I passed without scaring or passing really close.
